The eCEBS system is a digital platform designed to strengthen community-level disease surveillance. It allows health workers and community volunteers to report unusual health events, outbreaks, or potential public health threats in real time, improving early detection and rapid response.
Key Functions:
- Event Reporting
- Community health workers (CHWs) can report suspected cases or unusual health events directly via mobile devices.
- Data is captured in real time and routed to health authorities for verification.
- Alert Generation
- The system automatically flags unusual trends or clusters of events.
- Alerts are sent to district and national health authorities for timely action.
- Data Monitoring & Analysis
- Dashboards display trends, patterns, and geospatial information.
- Enables data-driven decision-making for outbreak response and resource allocation.
HISP Rwanda’s Intervention:
- System Design & Development: Customized the eCEBS platform to align with Rwanda’s health system requirements.
- Training & Capacity Building: Trained community health workers, supervisors, and health officials on reporting, monitoring, and using the platform.
- Integration & Support: Integrated eCEBS with existing national health information systems (DHIS2) for seamless data flow and analysis.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Provided ongoing technical support and improvements to enhance data quality and system performance.
