                                                                                                                                                                                                     Data Visualization Academy 2024

The Data Visualization Academy, held in Kigali from July 22-26, 2024, brought together over 60 participants from 12 countries.  Organized by HISP Rwanda and the University of Oslo. The academy was inaugurated by HISP Rwanda Coordinator Venuste Nsanzumuhire and Dr. Mohammed Semakula from the Ministry of Health of Rwanda who emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making. Participants gained hands-on skills in advanced data analysis, visualization,dashboards and data quality assurance. The event concluded with assessments and certificates marking a successful week of learning and collaboration.

 

 

 

 

Tracker Configuration Academy in Malawi

HISP Rwanda joined the Tracker Configuration Academy in Malawi collaborating with other regional HISP networks to enhance  participants’ skills in individual data management. The academy provided hands-on training to configure tracker programs, enabling improved health data utilization.

 

 

 

 

 

Rwanda’s Response to the Marburg Virus

Rwanda’s Ministry of health involvement by HISP Rwanda and partners utilized DHIS2 to manage the Marburg virus outbreak effectively. This integrated approach allowed real-time data analysis and swift public health interventions resulting in the first recorded recoveries from severe Marburg cases inAfrica. The outbreak was officially declared over onDecember 20, 2024.

History in the Making: Launch of HISP Africa

HISP Africa’s official launch marked a historic step in uniting regional HISP entities to strengthen information systems across the continent. HISP Rwanda proudly participated in this milestone event fostering collaboration innovation and capacity building.

 

 

 

 

 

Tackling Climate and Health Challenges

HISP Rwanda contributed to a conference focused on integrating climate and health data to address emerging challenges. Hosted by Rwanda’s Ministry of Health in collaboration with international institutions. The event provided training in spatial and spatio-temporal modeling techniques.

 

 

 

 

HISP Rwanda Partnered with Regional Teams for DHIS2 Tracker Academy in Zanzibar

HISP Rwanda had the honor of joining forces with HISPTanzania, HISP Uganda, HISP Malawi, and the Universityof Oslo in Zanzibar to facilitate the DHIS2 Tracker DataCapture & Analysis Academy. The event brought together participants from10 countries to enhance their skills in using DHIS2 for effective data capture and analysis, strengthening regional collaboration and knowledge sharing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enhancing DHIS2 Usability: UX Research Workshop in Tanzania 

HISP Rwanda participated in a UX Research Workshop in Tanzania, aimed at improving theusability of DHIS2 applications. The workshop brought together experts from various countriesto develop user experience research skills,enhancing DHIS2 functionality for better healthdata management globally.

Official Launch of DHIS2 in Gabon

In December 2024, Gabon officially launched DHIS2 with technical support from HISP Rwanda. This project is supported by the Global Fund, WHO, CERMEL and other partners, and empowers Gabon to enhance health data systems.

 

 

 

 

 

Rwanda and Madagascar Health Officials Hold Key Meeting in Kigali

During the DHIS2 training in Rwanda, an audience took place between Dr. Yvan Butera, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health of Rwanda and the Malagasy delegation in Kigali led by Dr.Andriamanantena Onivelo, Director of Cabinet at the Ministry ofHealth of Madagascar.

 

 

 

 

 

Zambian National Public Health Institute Visit In 2024

The Zambian National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) conducted a strategic visit to Rwanda to engage with key health institutions including the Ministry of Health,HISP Rwanda, the Rwanda Biomedical Centre and various hospitals. The visit focused on observing how HISP Rwanda effectively supports the implementation of Integrated Disease Surveillance.

 

 

 

 

 

Boosting Health Systems: HISP Rwanda &CAR Ministry of Health Partnership

HISP Rwanda (represented by Venuste NSANZUMUHIRE) and the Ministry of Health of Central African Republic (represented by H.E. Dr. Pierre Somse) signed an agreement to strengthen collaboration and enhance healthcare systems through innovative digital solutions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the same context, HISP Rwanda had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Marcel DJIMASSE in its premises in Kigali, Minister of Public Service of the Central African Republic. There were rich discussions on collaboration and innovative digital solutions.

eLMIS Implementation in Comoros

Starting September 2024, HISP Rwanda in partnership with the University of Oslo and mSupply worked on configuring and piloting the eLMIS system in Comoros. The project targeted central-level institutions, three regions and selected health facilities improving supply chain management and operational efficiency.

HISP Rwanda’s Expertise in Data Migration and Training in the Central African Republic

HISP Rwanda was pleased to have contributed its expertise for the migration of historical data and training on DHIS2 in the Central African Republic 🇨🇫. Our objectives were to migrate and test the EPI data, and to train the PTPE, TB & Surveillance teams on data analysis.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Data Visualization and Analysis Training in Madagascar

A five-day training on data visualization and analysis using DHIS2 was held in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The training was led by HISP Rwanda in partnership with UNICEF Madagascar.

 

 

 

 

 

 

HISP Rwanda Joined the 3rd Africa Health Summit in Kigali

HISP Rwanda was excited to join the 3rd Africa Health Summit in Kigali! From October 29-31, the team explored innovations in community health, unlocked AI’s potential, and contributed to driving Africa’s digital health revolution.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

HISP Rwanda Joined Chad’s Digital Health Strategic Plan Workshop

HISP Rwanda was pleased to participate in the Technical Validation Workshop for Chad’s National Digital Health Strategic Plan in Bakara. This initiative was crucial for strengthening digital health systems and promoting quality healthcare.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

HISP Rwanda and RBC Rwanda’s eCEBS Training

HISP Rwanda, in collaboration with RBC Rwanda, trained hospital staff on the eCEBS system in DHIS2 to improve malaria case reporting and stock monitoring. This initiative enhanced timely SMS-based reporting and helped prevent stock-outs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

IDSR Dashboard Upgrade in Rwanda

In September 2024, key stakeholders collaborated on enhancing Rwanda’s IDSR dashboard for improved analytics. This initiative, led by HISP Rwanda alongside WHO, RBC, and Jhpiego Rwanda, focused on data quality, surveillance monitoring, and performance metrics like the 7-1-7 indicators.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Official Launch of the HIV Tracker in Djibouti

HISP Rwanda participated in launching the HIV Tracker in Djibouti, a vital tool developed to enhance data management and patient monitoring. Collaborating with the Directorate of Information Systems and the HIV/TB Program, this initiative aims to improve health outcomes in the Horn of Africa.
