The Data Visualization Academy kicked off on Monday, 22nd July 2024 at the Grand Legacy Hotel in Kigali. The academy was organized by HISP Rwanda in collaboration with the University of Oslo. For a week, participants gathered in Kigali to deepen their knowledge and skills in advanced data analysis and visualization techniques, data mapping analysis, data quality assurance techniques, and new features introduced in DHIS2.
Opening the academy, HISP Rwanda Coordinator Venuste NSANZUMUHIRE welcomed over 60 delegates from 12 countries. He said the event will be a valuable opportunity for learning and collaboration. This was highlighted by Dr Mohammed Semakula, Head of Department for Planning, Information Strategy and Health Financing at the Ministry of Health who highlighted the importance of data-driven decision making for the well-being of the population.
He also indicated that this academy should be an opportunity to acquire knowledge on data capture, use and visualization in DHIS2 essential for data-driven decision-making. ‘I had the great pleasure of officially opening the week-long DHIS2 Academy on Data Visualization. Representatives from over 12 African countries gathered in Rwanda to learn and exchange ideas on optimizing the use of secondary health data for decision-making.’ He wrote on his official LinkedIn and X account after officially launching this academy. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7221544629848981506/
