DHIS2 TRACKER DATA CAPTURE ACADEMY
HISP Rwanda was honored to have joined HISP Tanzania in Zanzibar to facilitate the DHIS2 Tracker Data Capture & Analysis Academy, alongside HISP Uganda, University of Malawi and University of Oslo with participants from 10 countries, it’s been an incredible experience!

HISP RWANDA-MADAGASCAR (DATA VISUALISATION TRAINING)
On September 9, 2024 marked the beginning of a 5-day training in Antananarivo, focused on the use of DHIS2 tools for data visualization and analysis. Organized by HISP Rwanda in partnership with UNICEF Madagascar the training was specifically designed for UNICEF and other stakeholders at both the central and regional levels. Its objective is to improve skills in data interpretation and use through the advanced tools of DHIS2.
By strengthening participants’ capacity to leverage data, this training aimed to more effectively guide strategic and operational decisions in various sectors, while optimizing the management of UNICEF-supported programmes in Madagascar. Another key asset was the presence of HISP Rwanda experts on site, offering support adapted to local realities and allowing the training of a large number of technicians and decision-makers, while reducing costs.
IDSR DASHBOARD UPGRADE INFORMATION GATHERING PROJECT
In September 2024 , key stakeholders gathered to enhance Rwanda’s surveillance systems through advanced analytics at the IDSR Dashboard Development Workshop in Huye District. HISP Rwanda, World health organization, Rwanda Biomedical Centre and Jhpiego Rwanda collaborated to define and highlight the required enhancements in system analytics for detecting and responding to public health threats.
This initiative underscores the importance of data-driven decision-making in healthcare and reinforces our commitment to strengthening public health surveillance. Key Outputs will strengthen Routine Surveillance, Data Quality monitoring with feedback mechanisms, Monitoring of 7-1-7 Indicators among other Key Performing Indicators.
DHIS2 TRAINING IN GABON IN THE PREPARATION OF OFFICIAL LAUNCH
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (Ministère de la Santé et des Affaires Sociales), in collaboration with HISP Rwanda, and with the support of WHO and the Global Fund, successfully conducted training sessions for data managers across all health regions of Gabon.
This initiative aimed to prepare for the national launch of DHIS2 as the official HIS platform.
HISTORY IN THE MAKING-LAUNCH OF HISP AFRICA
HISP Rwanda was proud to be part of the HISP family as we officially launched HISP Africa! This was a monumental step in strengthening information systems across the continent, promoting collaboration, innovation, and capacity building. HISP Rwanda was thrilled to contributing and learning from fellow members as we drive positive change for Africa
A delegation from the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) recently visited Rwanda to explore various health initiatives and projects. During their visit, they engaged with several key stakeholders and programs, including the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) project.
The delegation also paid visits to HISP Rwanda, the Ministry of Health (MoH), and the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), gaining insights into Rwanda’s innovative approaches to public health and digital health solutions.
