Chad’s Ministry of Public Health Launches DHIS2-Based Microplanning Module for Vaccination Activities

The Ministry of Public Health in Chad, in collaboration with technical and financial partners UNICEF Chad, HISP Rwanda, and the Directorate for Disease Control, Vaccination, and Epidemiological Surveillance (DLMVSE), has introduced a microplanning module to enhance local-level vaccination planning in the provinces of Moyen-Chari, Mandoul, and Mayo-Kebbi Ouest.

This innovative system enables detailed, village-by-village situational analysis within each health center, factoring in key elements such as:

  • Population data

  • Accessibility

  • Vaccination coverage

  • Stock levels and cold chain status

  • Transport availability

  • And many other critical indicators

The tool supports problem identification and prioritization, accurate estimation of needs and costs, and the development of an integrated national microplan. Importantly, it allows the same microplan to be generated across all levels of the health system pyramid.

This initiative is built on the DHIS2 platform and integrates the WHO standard Excel-based microplanning tool, reflecting a strategic move toward data-driven and decentralized planning in the delivery of immunization services. END
