DHIS2 Data Visualization Academy (July 2024)

The DHIS2 Data Visualization Academy kicked off on Monday, July 22, 2024, in Kigali. Organized by HISP Rwanda in collaboration with the University of Oslo, this week-long training brought together participants from 12 different countries to strengthen their expertise in advanced data analysis and visualization techniques.

Participants engaged in sessions on map-based data analysis, data quality assurance methods, and explored new features in DHIS2. The Academy provided a platform to enhance practical skills in data use for improved decision-making across health systems.

At the opening ceremony, Venuste NSANZUMUHIRE, HISP Rwanda Coordinator, welcomed over 60 delegates, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and continuous learning.

Dr. Mohammed Semakula, Head of Planning, Health Information Strategy, and Health Financing at the Ministry of Health, underscored the role of data-driven decisions in improving public health.

It was my great pleasure to officially open the DHIS2 Data Visualization Academy. Representatives from more than 12 African countries have come together in Rwanda to learn and exchange ideas on how to maximize the use of health data for decision-making,” he posted on his LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter) after the launch.

Participants appreciated the academy for its rich and practical content, especially on data entry, analysis, dashboards, validation rules, and other DHIS2 tools like pivot tables, visualizers, and GIS mapping.
