Great news! Karame is now up and running on the Google Play Store!

Rwanda is on a mission to ensure every single child is in school.
Under the Zero Out-of-School Children (Zero OOSC) project  launched by the Ministry of Education Rwanda (MINEDUC) alongside the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and Save the Children Rwanda, approximately 177,000 children are being reintegrated into the education system. Ensuring they stay requires real-time data in the hands of every teacher and school administrator across the country.
That’s exactly what Karame is built to do.

Karame is an official mobile application for MINEDUC, designed to digitally transform how schools track, manage, and report student attendance  putting it directly in the hands of authorized school staff namely headteachers and teachers. It enables schools to identify students at risk of dropout early through tracking attendance patterns.

What Karame does:

-Real-time student attendance tracking
-Offline-first  works without internet, syncs when connected
-Secure data sync with the national education server

Karame is now live on the Google Play Store.

This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible collaboration of our partner organizations:

  • Ministry of Education Rwanda (MINEDUC) for the trust, direction, and commitment to leaving no child behind
  • Save the children for driving the vision forward
  • Waliku Team for providing leadership in various aspects of project management
  • HISP Rwanda as a local partner in charge of system implementation and support
  • HISP Mozambique  for being the principal technical developer of the ecosystem

Together, we are proving that technology, when built with purpose and the right partners, can directly contribute to one of Rwanda’s most important national goals  ensuring every single child is in school, learning, and thriving. END
