HISP Rwanda Hosts Central African Republic Minister of Health, Dr. Pierre Somse, to Strengthen Digital Health Collaboration

HISP Rwanda had the distinct honor of welcoming His Excellency Dr. Pierre Somse, Minister of Health and Population of the Central African Republic (CAR), to its headquarters in Kigali on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

The visit marked a significant step in the growing partnership between HISP Rwanda and the Ministry of Health and Population of CAR. During the visit, Dr. Somse received an in-depth presentation on the wide range of digital health solutions and data systems offered by HISP Rwanda across various partner countries. The discussions highlighted key areas of ongoing collaboration and explored new opportunities to advance sustainable digital transformation within CAR’s health sector.

This engagement also reinforced the shared commitment between both parties to strengthen health systems in the Central African Republic through robust, scalable, and context-specific digital solutions. Special focus was placed on how digital tools can be leveraged to enhance data-driven decision-making, improve health service delivery, and ensure greater accountability and transparency across the health system.

This visit follows the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in December 2024 between HISP Rwanda and the Ministry of Health and Population of the Central African Republic. This MoU laid the foundation for a strategic partnership aimed at supporting public health improvements in CAR through the adoption of innovative technologies and capacity-building initiatives.

HISP Rwanda remains committed to working hand in hand with the government of CAR and other regional partners to drive impactful health outcomes through digital innovation. END
